Examples
Some examples from recent and current practice are set out below:-
Example 1 - Managing projects effectively
A major high-tech defence contractor required improved project management skills from customer- facing teams. We were called in and created an exciting and absorbing three-day project which closely duplicated the client's processes. Process reviews take place every two hours, along with task
"stand-ups" at appropriate times. Experience so far shows that delegates identify appropriate andinappropriate behaviours for themselves and take remedial action.
Research by the client - with whom we work closely before, during, and after each programme - shows that this remedial action continues back at work. A significant number of delegates havedisplayed radical (and positive!) changes in behaviour.
Example 2 - The total business
A major ceramics company asked us to design an exercise which totally replicated their operational process, to form the basis for operational analysis, behaviour analysis and development/assessment centres. The specification was for a total and faithful reproduction of their current organisation and processes from manufacturing right through to retail.
A tough assignment.
We did it - and did it well enough for the process to have spawned an ongoing variety of development and assessment centres, as well as enabling the company to identify a culture in which the role of manufacturing unhelpfully dominated all functions of the business.
Example 3 - Challenging the culture
Having been disappointed by previous suppliers, the world leader in soft drinks marketing sought us out to design and run a teambuilding programme for one of its south-eastern European subsidiaries. We designed and ran the programme in situ so
successfully that even more challenging propositions in Yugoslavia were offered. These in their turn were so successful that we have more in hand for other areas.
In all cases - and as always in close co-operation with clients' staff - we've been able to very successfully facilitate the building of new cultures in the organisations.
